Virginia Slims Cigarettes

Virginia Slim Cigarettes brand is associated with character of the elegant lady. The most gentle sorts of tobacco are used for producing these discount cigarettes. Virginia Slim Cigarettes is a leader in lady’s tobacco productions. Its subtle taste and smooth smoke can not leave indifferent any man, who just caught sight of lady, smoking Virginia cigarettes. In XX-th century a women's smoking began to symbolize emancipation and feminism. This brand was founded in 1968 by Phillip Morris, who has a reputation of an unconditional leader in tobacco industry. Virginia Slims series consists of several kinds of cigarettes, differing by aroma and smoothness. Even the most pampered tobacco smoker will find Virginia an excellent choice on the tobacco market.

Virginia Slim belongs to decorative brands, focused strictly on young professional women. Virginia Slim cigarettes were promoted under the slogan "You've come a long way, baby" for a long period. Some sources ascribe the growth of smoking level among young ladies to these cigarettes. They are not groundless, even if to take into consideration just slogans of Virginia Slim cigarettes advertising -"Find Your Voice", and later "It's a Woman Thing". Virginia Slim are much narrower than ordinary cigarettes, and are also longer than normal "king-sized" cigarettes, sold only in longer 100s and 120s, to give the cigarettes a more "elegant" appearance. A report by the Surgeon General of the United States has interpreted these marketing strategies as attempting to link smoking "to women's freedom, emancipation, and empowerment." This report also tied the increase of smoking among teenage girls to rises in sales of Virginia Slims and other "niche" brands marketed directly to women. Virginia Slims are much narrower (23mm circumference) than ordinary cigarettes (hence, "Slims"), and are also longer than normal "king-sized" discount cigarettes, sold only in longer 100s and 120s, to give the cigarettes a more "elegant" appearance and ostensibly to reduce the amount of smoke they produce. They are also sold in "Superslims", "light," "ultra-light," and menthol varieties. The packaging is white with vertical colored stripes running along the left side. Trivia: Virginia Slims was the last cigarette brand to advertise on US television, airing an ad just before midnight on the night of New Year's Day 1971. The ad featured a pre-Hill Street Blues Veronica Hamel.
